System of a Downward is the eponymous debut anthology past System of a Down, offset released in 1998. The album was certified gold past the RIAA on February two, 2000. Two years later, afterward the success of Toxicity, information technology was certified platinum.

Anthology information [ ]

The cover artwork is from a poster designed by the artist John Heartfield for the Communist Party of Germany during the Third Reich. The text in the original affiche is: "5 fingers has a manus! With these five grab the enemy!". This slogan inspired part of the text independent in the back of the System of a Down album: "The hand has v fingers, capable and powerful, with the ability to destroy likewise as create". Afterward, it is written in assuming letters: "Open your optics, open your mouths, close your easily and make a fist".

This anthology is featured in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Earlier You Die.
